Lucie M Mordecai is a former mental health specialist, behavioral specialist, and also a crisis intervention worker. Today she serves as C.E.O & Founder of Abba’s International Healing Center Inc. She lives in Iowa City with her 2 children.
Graduating from Kingsway University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, and from Kirkwood Community College with a degree in social work, Lucie found herself working with individuals who are intellectually disabled, helping them with special needs to conquer the daily challenges life can throw their way. From time to time, Lucie celebrates their achievements, mourns their losses, and everything in-between. While working with her clients, Lucie came to understand what to do to help them achieve their hopes and dreams, while trying to protect them from judgment when the outside world doesn’t understand.
Lucie is not only their therapist, but she is also their cheerleader. People with a mental illness are often feared and rejected by society. This occurs because of the stigma of mental illness. The stigma of mental illness causes the perception of individuals with mental illnesses to be viewed as being dangerous and insane.
Out of work, Lucie enjoys spending time with her kids, visiting places and volunteering;they all love and appreciate nature.
